Annie Doig’ 18, Abby Hogan ’18: Slang is used across the world in different cultures and communities, and the Episcopal Academy is no exception.  Whether it is used in conversations, in text messages, or even in the classroom, slang is a popular way to communicate across EA’s campus. Abhay Malik ’17:  This past December, Episcopal students participated in the regional level of the Future Business Leaders of America Competition, “a program that recognizes and rewards excellence in a broad range of business and career-related areas. Police launched an investigation in April of 2015, revealing several serious incidents involving students and the distribution of explicit images. In one case, a student attempted to sell one of these images to a fellow classmate, and in another, a boy edited a girl’s face onto a photograph of two adults having sex and distributed it. Sean McGarrity ’18: The Annenberg Library has recently installed three new charging stations for student and faculty use. The two Kwikboost stations can hold five Apple lightning cables, one Apple thirty pin cable, and one micro USB cable to accommodate devices such as cell phones, iPads, tablets, etc. The other station is located on a high-top table, which can charge two Macbook Air computers. The process of finding new speakers branches out to many different approaches including connections to outside-of-school speakers. These connections often come through Reverend Squire, but the student-led Vestry also plays a large part in the process. Headed by Lisa McDonnell, the store has widened its selection of merchandise to offer new items to EA students, faculty and families. “I’m new this year,” McDonnell remarked and continued, “My background is in retail, and I worked for Marshall Field’s and for Ralph Lauren. Brooke Kelly ’18: The new schedule that will be in effect the next school year has finally been confirmed after many conversations, debate, and student forums. This schedule contains many changes from Episcopal’s current school-day routine, including revisions in the number and arrangement of class periods. Currently, a typical day for an Episcopal student consists of seven academic blocks, each consuming forty to forty-five minutes out of the day. The new schedule includes fewer blocks per day with each block lasting a longer period of time. Five classes may take place everyday for fifty-five to sixty minutes each. This means…

James Tang ’18: Episcopal Academy’s fourteen tennis courts are about to become eleven, as the construction of a brand new ice rink is about to begin. From the weeks between Thanksgiving and winter break, EA’s maintenance team and grounds crew will work together on erecting a full sized ice rink gifted by the Class of 1944 and the Episcopal Academy Parent Association.
