Anjali Bose ’20: Just beyond the Newtown Post and the Lower School lays a small garden, planted and taken care of by the EA community. Though busy with school work and athletics, a group of students in the EA Farming Club, led by English teacher John Dilworth, find time to cultivate it and organize its produce. The club feels that farming the EA garden is important for many different reasons. “I think it’s important that we know where our food comes from, how much time, effort, and work it takes to get a salad or potatoes on your plate. Amanda Turner ’19: In an age where teenagers are spending, on average, nine hours a day on the Internet, safety online is more crucial than ever. Some of the biggest dangers on the Internet are scams and viruses. Blair Bendler, Technology Services Coordinator, defined viruses as, “Malicious programs that replicate themselves.” Viruses can infect computer programs by modifying them.  Because an increasing number of students at Episcopal have either school provided or personal Mac laptops, viruses are not as much of a problem. Bendler explained that Macs are not very susceptible to viruses because of “obscurity,” the idea that information is…

Pia Singh ’19:  Although many students think mind-numbing academic lessons won’t be so applicable to the real world as more practical classes—e.g., Financial Literacy and Home Economics, it is important to remember that EA is a college preparatory school. EA provides its students the logical and critical thinking skills necessary for a career; what is more, EA graduates have every ability to develop the practical skills they may come to need. Episcopal focuses on building a student’s character via the Stripes. Although FCS (Family and Consumer Sciences) and other vocational classes are not offered at EA, some students feel as…

Avi Shah ’17, Connor Gunsalus ’17: Almost every day at Episcopal one can hear someone complaining about the pricing of food in the cafeteria. With the large variety and amount of options our dining hall offers, it is possible that the cost of a single lunch order can become unreasonably high. Even ten dollars may not amount to much food in the EA dining hall, which has led students to discontent over the expensive pricing of the cafeteria. Up to this point, this question of why the prices are so high is yet to be answered. Students have varying levels of…

Baxter explains how she misses the “sense of collaboration and practice of peer review that a large art class offers.” But, Baxter explains, “I am actually fine with being the only student in my art class. I get a lot of individual attention from Ms. Hutchison, and I feel that it has benefitted my artwork. There are also minimum distractions when it is just the teacher and yourself,…

Recently, some students have been denied access to use these materials for their senior day posters.
