Michael DiMonte ’25 Thursday, 12:49 PM, December 5th. The editors told me on Monday I needed a story by Friday, but here I sit without a single word typed. All I’ve been able to do is stare at the blank page and think about how my Scholium career is nothing more than smoke and mirrors. My associate, Jack Gallagher, flew the coop weeks ago. I hear rumors that involve him, horse-betting, and Saigon, but I don’t know what to believe anymore. At the time I laughed, but now I wish I was in his shoes. There is no time to…

Well, my original interest goes all the way back to being a kid. I just always liked nature and being outdoors. I especially liked biodiversity, so I loved seeing, you know, frogs…
Addison Thomas ’27 Siena Scungio ’27 As this holiday season rapidly approaches, the Episcopal Academy community will be celebrating with many annual traditions, such as the Christmas Tree Lighting. This tradition stretches far beyond the illumination of a tree; through the warm hot chocolate, talented musicians playing in the chapel, and a radiant tree, a sense of fulfillment always spreads throughout the campus. This year, the event fell on December 6th and was as successful as ever. From the cookies displayed to the tree itself, the lighting requires a lot of preparation. Throughout the week, cookies are donated by Middle…

Kayla Kouahou ’28 As President Donald Trump prepares for his second term in office, he has begun to select members for his new cabinet, many of which have sparked significant controversy. Several of his picks have already drawn criticism, including Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (RFK Jr.) for Secretary of Health and Human Services, Tulsi Gabbard for Director of National Intelligence, and Pete Hegseth for Defense Secretary. In addition, Trump has been particularly popular in the media because of the creation of a new advisory body, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which aims to cut government spending and streamline bureaucracy.…
Cai Parker ’27 Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, was charged with two federal offenses for tax evasion and illegal gun possession. Despite previous pledges to not interfere with Hunter Biden’s trial, Presiden Biden pardoned his son on December 1 after he was convicted, prompting outcries of nepotism and conflict of interest from many Americans. Hunter Biden’s initial charges included failing to pay over $100,000 in taxes from 2017-2018 as well as illegally possessing a firearm while struggling with a drug addiction. His tax evasion charges were stated as misdemeanors while the gun charge was placed as a felony.…
Grace Holland ’25 Oh, the underclassmen, the naive students yet to be subjected to the pressure of the College Counseling office. Yet, we seniors find them flooding the space like it’s their playground. We attempt to find solace from our senior stress in the candy jars and comfortable couches but are met with children banging on the glass. The real kicker? They run around like squirrels, oh and they steal the candy. To the underclassmen, we ask one simple thing. Spaces are to be shared, but please be respectful. You will thank us when you are upperclassmen applying to colleges…
Along with annual events such as EA/Haverford/AIS weekend, Spirit Week, and Scrooge Chapel, the Can Drive stands out as one of EA’s most rewarding community traditions. It’s a time when the entire community gets together, from PreK through 12th to reach out and help other communities. It’s not marked by flashy celebrations or humorous performances, but rather, by a profound sense of generosity and giving by a community that acts not because of personal gain but by a feeling of giving and empathy. It’s truly the most unique event on EA’s calendar and deserves a closer look. Just a couple…

Sofia Foulds ’26 Addi Thomas ’27 This fall, Episcopal has expanded its opportunities to the female athletes of the middle school through the introduction of volleyball. This inaugural season marks an exciting time for the Episcopal Academy, where volleyball has finally become part of the school’s athletics program—an addition that’s long been anticipated. Assistant Athletic Director Katie Duffie explains that the idea of forming a volleyball program had been “kicked around for a long time.” EA was one of only two schools in the league without a volleyball team, and the growing interest among students prompted action.
