Marina and Turkey (2)

“Are there any specific memories from when you were in Turkey that really stick out to you when you think of your time there?”

“I had been walking around in, it’s called Sultanahmet Square, kind of in the center of Istanbul, and a little boy ran up to me and put a crown made out of flowers right on top of my head, and I couldn’t understand what he was saying, but one of the translators told me that he was a Syrian refugee, who had found his way to Istanbul, and was selling these flower crowns to try to make money for his family. So even though he just needed me for money, it was just a sweet gesture and I thought it was so cool that I could meet someone, just a little boy, who had been through so much.”
