Anjali Bose ’20: With many conflicting opinions regarding this past year of student council, it is clear that they have had both triumphs and disappointments. However, next year’s president, Neha Mukherjee, is ready and excited to make next year entertaining, interesting, and unique as she takes on the important position of Student Council President. Although student council is already very organized and skilled at what they do, there are clearly some aspects that need additional assistance. Neha, along with the entire council of next year, is ready to listen to and serve the student body to ensure the greatest amount of success for the upcoming 2017-2018 school year.
To the EA student body,
I am so honored to be your Student Council President for the 2017-2018 school year. Each new school year always brings with it a new set of challenges. Next year, for example, we will face a new schedule, a new head of upper school, and a new student body. Amidst all of these changes, the Student Council will be dedicated to being the voice for the students. As a council, we will listen to all student ideas and try to create a memorable year for all. We will work tirelessly to ensure that students are not only having fun in their time at EA, but also feel connected to the community.
With a balance of focus and fun, we plan to help students with the problems that they face in their everyday lives and to dedicate time to planning school wide events. Whether it be helping a new student adjust to EA, having a community service competition between grades, or working towards a large scale school function, the council will work for the good of the student body.
In my years at EA, I have come to learn that the school year is what you make of it. We, the student body, define the 2017-2018 school year. So, while we are setting out with the intention of preserving long lasting traditions, it is also up to us to create our own traditions. With this, the Student Council will strive to be approachable and open-minded so that anyone can have input on the legacy that we leave in our final years at EA. We hope to be the facilitators of change, allowing each and everyone of you to better EA in your own way.
While intelligent, our student body as a whole is also unique, driven, and passionate. These qualities are what can make next year one to remember.
I cannot wait to get started creating our own traditions, connecting our community, and leaving our mark on EA.
Sincerely,
Neha Mukherjee
