Rich Palazzese ’14: The EA Girls’ track 4×400 relay team of Brianna Belo ’14, Brittany Belo ’14, Julia Hondros ’15, and Tara Boyle ’15, qualified for Nationals last weekend.  The four girls competed last week in the state tournament and qualified to compete for Nationals on Friday, March 14th with a time of 4:04, an average of 1:01 per lap. Because of a spring lacrosse committment, Leigh Adelizzi ’15 will be filling in for Hondros at the national meet. The girls will head to New York City to compete against public and private schools coming from all over the country.  The Churchwomen will face familiar foes such as Sprinside and Notre Dame, among others. On the boys’ side, Samuel Pope ’15  turned heads in the triple jump with a distance of 47’8″. He also qualified for  Nationals and will be headed up to NYC with the girls this weekend. Boyle reflected on their performance at states, saying “Julia (Hondros) and I were led by the Belo twins (Brittany and Brianna), and everyone ran great splits.” Although their performance to date is quite impressive, the girls are definitely not yet satisfied. Boyle elaborated, “We are definitely peaking at the right time and we will be running for the school record  on Friday.” The girls will aim to cap off an extremely impressive season by possibly making school history at the Armory track and field complex.
