Tyler Haab ’14, Moose Recktenwald ’14: With the football team off to an outstanding start this season it is no surprise that we chose first-string quarterback, Adam Strouss ’12 as our first Athlete of the Month. Adam has led the football team to five straight wins. In these five games, Strouss threw for eleven touchdowns, and ran four in him-self. Strouss will continue his football career at the University of Pennsylvania next year.
Strouss attributes his success so far this year to “his parents and Coach Fairlie.” Strouss believes that the team owes most of their offensive success to the new offensive coordinator, Coach Gueriera. Strouss said, “He has completely revived our offense, and implemented humor to practice everyday and really has us firing on all cylinders on the offensive side”.
Strouss played his first game of organized football in fourth grade for Saint Patrick’s CYO team, and is amazed at how far along he has come.
When asked what motivates him, Strouss quoted Vince Lombardi, stating, “The dictionary is the only place where success comes before work. Work is the key to success and hard work can help you accomplish anything.”
Along with Vince Lombardi, Strouss looks up to Peyton Manning, because of his “unrivaled work ethic and knowledge of the game.” Tight end Evan Butts ’14 commented, “Adam is a tremendous role model who never hesitates to put all the praise on his teammates and coaches instead of himself.”
