Stephen Morris is a dynamic figure in the Episcopal community, having worked as a coach, Head of the Middle School, and teacher for the Middle and Upper Schools. In each of these areas he has excelled and changed the lives of those around him for the better, and we are endlessly grateful for his contributions to this school.

Keira Gallagher ’28: “He is such a kind and pure soul. I think anyone who has ever had him as a teacher automatically loves him. I get frustrated super easily but he has helped me calm down when I am doing math problems and I can lock in to get them done, and that has helped me a lot.

Joseph Doyle ’27: “His positive attitude and the fact that whenever I see him in the math office he always brightens my day benefits the EA community. I have known him for quite a while because he goes to Friday morning Eucharist with me, and he has been one of my closest teachers in the Upper School.”

Jay Jennings: “I think Mr. Morris has a steady influence that benefits everyone at our school. He is consistently always here, and always ready to do whatever is needed. I also coach with Mr Morris, and as a coach, he is always working life skills into the coaching, and in his teaching, he is trying to make [students] better people in addition to helping them with the math. Math is his vehicle, but he is just trying to make the kids better.”

Jordan Shanahan ’26: “I had Mr. Morris for two years in seventh and ninth grade. He always added positivity and enthusiasm to the classroom. Not only does he care about his student’s learning but he also makes an effort to get to know his students at a personal level.”

CJ Yespelkis: Mr. Morris benefits the community in many ways, especially when you look at his leadership experience around campus and all the different roles he has served. It was a huge benefit for our math department a couple of years ago when he stepped away from being Middle School Head and was able to step back into the Upper School classrooms. His flexibility with being one of the few teachers on campus who teaches both middle school and Upper School classes and thrives in both is remarkable. I know he is also a big help to all of our teachers, his willingness to share resources and support other teachers is huge. Any one of Mr. Morris’s students would say that the things he says are typically more, ‘take your time, think about this before you jump in,’ than just ‘here is how you do the problem.’ It’s a lot of good life skills and being mindful about what you’re doing.

Caden Kropf ’27: “He loves all his students, and I think he is really passionate about math. He is great teacher.”

Lily McNamara ’27: “Mr. Morris always says ‘good morning’ to me and starts my day off with a positive moment. He also teaches you how to be a good person outside the classroom, and we are lucky to have him.”
