Chase Bearly ‘24 is known for his speed, determination, leadership, and encouragement in and out of the pool. Captaining both the swimming and water-polo teams, he has made himself a force to reckon in all aspects of the pool.
Being celebrated as Main Line Athlete of the Month and being the 38th best swimmer in the state of Pennsylvania, Bearly has solidified himself as one of the best swimmers in his recruiting class.
Bearly is known for his determination in and out of the pool. Aiden Tsaturyan ‘25 comments, “Chase is one of the most determined swimmers I have ever known, whether it is waking up at 5am for morning practices or staying after late practice to lift, he is constantly striving to improve himself.” Similarly, Channing Wells ‘24 remarks, “Both as a swimmer and water polo player, you will never find someone who works harder than Chase does.”
Bearly is also known for his leadership qualities, and his ability to motivate his teammates. Wells comments, “Chase leads his teams with a ferocious and aggressive leadership style, whereby he doesn’t accept anything but your best work. Although sometimes overwhelming, it never fails to motivate you to be your best self in and out of the pool.” Tsaturyan also remarks, “More than his leadership qualities, Chase leads by example. Whether he is screaming a hype speech, or just doing his warm-up, he is always an inspiration.”
Finally, Bearly is known for his encouragement and kindness. Tsaturyan comments, “Coming into highschool and playing both water polo and swimming at a new school were scary for me. However, having a friendly face like Chase made it better. I could always count on him to help me in water polo or swimming, whether it was how to run a water polo play, or how to improve my swimming technique. This has really helped me develop as an athlete, and has allowed me to forge a long lasting friendship with Chase.” Wells similarly remarks, “Chase is known more for his qualities out of the pool than he is for his accolades or accomplishments within the pool. He is always there to provide a laugh for the team, or to lighten the mood when we are down.”
When asked about his favorite memory at EA, Bearly comments, “My favorite memory was junior year during Easterns for swimming. More than the fact that I performed well, it was overall just a great experience. Being able to have fun and stay in a hotel room with some of my close friends for the weekend, and compete with them, was a memory I will never forget.
After much deliberation and many official visits, Chase is taking his swimming talents to Lehigh University where he will continue his academic and athletic career for the next 4 years.
