A hardworking student, avid risk taker, caring friend, and talented artist: there is not much Kassidy Kryukov ‘24 cannot do. Kassidy has always felt connected to art, and she has spent her high school years taking advantage of the art facilities and classes offered here at EA. Kassidy is a dedicated artist who specializes in 2-D endeavors such as drawings, paintings, and prints. Though she has partaken in other mediums such as photography, ceramics, and woodworking; drawing and painting have always been a special love of hers.

A STILL LIFE: Kryukov’s natural talent shines regardless of medium.

Though she only began taking Episcopal Academy art classes freshman year, she had previously been taking summer art classes at the Wayne Art CenterKassidy’s experience with 2D art includes having taken figure drawing classes, oil painting classes, portrait classes, pottery classes, and many more facets of her craft. Despite her preference for 2D, Kassidy puts her all into each of her artistic endeavors, and is always looking to learn more. Upper School Art Department Chair David Sigel describes, “Kassidy is a very intellectual artist…she has a natural talent which makes her so successful, but she is also hard working. I have enjoyed having the opportunity to observe Kassidy’s work firsthand in our 2-D design art class.” Mr. Sigel’s high praise of Kassidy’s shows how her passion for art goes beyond the requirements of school, and that her success is a result of her passion and determination.

Kassidy’s peers also describe her as a thoughtful, inventive, and creative artist, all traits which allow her artwork to shine. Kassidy talks about her artwork with love and pride. “One of my favorite pieces, although I don’t exactly have a favorite, is a watercolor painting of a frog with coins. This painting was done in one of my past art classes, and I just love it!” When asked if Kassidy plans to continue doing art in college, she responded with, “Definitely. If I can, I would like to double major, at least. All the schools I’m looking at have art as something I could continue.” Though Kassidy is not exactly sure what her next steps will look like, she knows she wants to continue her artistic journey in college and beyond.

Kassidy Kryukov’s work is admirable, but her love and determination for her artwork is inspirational. These traits allow her to have reached her current success in the world of art, and will surely continue to propel her into many more successful endeavors.
