Boys’ Water polo team will be looking to catch a win this upcoming weekend. Last Haverford day, they suffered a loss of 16-7 and have lost to Haverford in the 2018 season 15-11. EA currently has a 4-3 record in the Inter-Ac. Head Coach Max Kelly is fairly optimistic about EA’s chances heading into the day. Kelly says, “We feel confident heading into Ea/Haverford day. Our team has improved tremendously since the beginning of the year”. This sought after matchup will take place in the Mcquillen Pool at 11:30
The always close matchup between Haverford and Episcopal Golf is expected to be close once again. Haverford is coming off a successful season with an Inter-Ac win, with Episcopal coming in second. EA’s team looks to repeat this year with six seniors playing who provide valuable experience from past Haverford days. This veteran experience is very important for success on Haverford day because of its high-pressure environment. As described by Co-Captain Michael Zeng, “It is very stressful to hit the first shot on Haverford day knowing that one shot can make a difference in the outcome.” Captains Michael Zeng ‘19 and Robbie Copit ‘19 look to help the younger players with managing their nerves during the match. Both teams have great confidence going into this match because of years of tight competition in the Inter-Ac.
Episcopal and Haverford’s soccer teams never fail to put up a close game. Last year, the matchup was very close leading to a 0-0 tie. Episcopal is ranked twelfth in the nation, and Haverford at fourteenth. Episcopal’s soccer team has had an extraordinary season, being undefeated with only two ties. In the Inter-Ac, Episcopal has the five wins, zero losses, and two ties. Captain Harrison Malone ‘19 says “Haverford day is a crazy environment. The most important thing is to stay composed and play hard. The team has had a great start and is ready to face adversity. We are looking good going into the big game; we are more than capable of handling the competition and winning”. Head Coach David Knox and Assistant Coach Jeremy Hark are ready to prepare the boys for a hard matchup and the lineup has skilled experience going into Haverford day. The game will be held at Haverford on Saturday, November 10 at 12:30 pm.
