Alex Burman ’16: As famous NFL Quarterback Drew Brees once stated, “I hope our hopes and aspirations are bigger than setting records.” In many ways this quote defines the extremely successful career of senior diver Josh Owsiany ‘15. Owsiany broke the diving record not only in the Inter-Ac, but all of Delaware County during his eventful 2015 season. His six consecutive dives added up to an astounding score of 368, his career high. He recapped this accomplishment saying, “I did six dives and the judges graded me at a total of 368, which set the record, and I was ecstatic.” In response to his mindset heading into the match, Owsiany said, “It was the last home meet, and against Haverford, so I tried a new dive and really wanted to dive my best. I wanted to try and beat that record when I knew I could.” Owsiany is heading to dive at the Division 1 powerhouse, Duke University where he doesn’t just plan to excel in academics, but make it to the Olympics. “My ultimate goal is to get there. Competing at the highest level is something that drives me daily.” In many ways Owsiany’s hopes and aspirations are much bigger than setting records. He continues to work hard every day, concluding with, “My goal is to head to the Olympics, I know it will be a tough grind, but a dream come true.”
