Katie Howlin ’12
Brian Metzler ’12 is co-captain of the boys’ basketball team, and his presence on the court has helped turn the program around. Metzler has been playing basketball for the majority of his life, and has ambitions to continue his career in college. Metzler has been on varsity since his freshman year, and this is his second year starting as either a guard or forward.
Scholium: When and why did you start playing basketball?
Metzler: I’ve been playing for fun since birth, but in second grade I played in my first league. My dad got me into it.
S: What is your favorite EA basketball memory?
M: The Malvern game last year, the gym was filled with fans. Even though we lost, it was great because it gave us the chance to win the Inter-Ac.
S: What are your goals for the season?
M: Like every year, our goal is to win the Inter-Ac,
S: What are your expectations for the season?
M: It’s up in the air now, we’re a young team experience-wise, but we’re tough and physical.
S: What has been your best experience with basketball?
M: It was an honor to make second team All Inter-Ac last year as a junior. Also, it was great to be elected co-captain with Collin Wright for our senior season.
S: Do you plan on playing basketball in college?
M: Yes, I’ve been looking at Washington College, McDaniel, Grove City and Albright.
